A Romanian priest has been jailed for 14 years for conducting an exorcism that led to the death of a nun who he believed was possessed by devils. Four nuns involved were also jailed for between five and eight years.
羅馬尼亞一名神父主持驅魔儀式時，導致一名他認為被妖魔附身的修女喪命，而被判刑14年。另外四名涉案修女也各被判處5到8年徒刑。
Irina Cornici, 23, died in June 2005 at the secluded Holy Trinity convent in the northeast Romanian village of Tanacu.

She was tied up for several days without food or water and chained to a cross during an exorcism ritual led by Daniel Petru Corogeanu, 31, the priest at the convent, and four other nuns.

A court convicted Corogeanu and the nuns of holding Cornici captive, resulting in her death.

The Orthodox Church, which described the incident as "abominable", has promised reforms, including psychological tests for those seeking to enter monasteries. It banned Corogeanu from the priesthood and excommunicated the four nuns.

（後記）一九七三年電影《大法師》，看過的人皆為之心裡發毛，至今三十多年，它仍是恐怖片中的經典。《大法師》描述一個小女孩被魔鬼撒旦附身，兩位神父為之驅魔，屬靈爭戰激烈，小女孩雖終獲救，但神父不幸喪命、壯烈成仁。
